Seattle Central College will be holding a competition to name a school mascot early next year, which will be used in advertising materials for the college. The winning entry will be awarded $1000 and automatically become the intellectual property of Seattle Central College, and the school’s marketing department will make the decision of how the mascot will be used.
Notification methods about the competition to the student body will include campus-wide emails, posters and fliers for tabling, Canvas announcements, club or class announcements, and social media.
The contest will be officially announced the week of January 6, 2020, and run until February 14, when the submission portion of the contest will close. Finalists will be chosen the week of February 17, when a panel will select 3-5 entries. Student voting on the final selected entries will commence the week of February 28, when the student body will vote on a single favorite design. The final winner will be announced March 18, with a winner scheduled for the week of April 13.
Students can follow SCC on social media and by downloading the Seattle Central App, which is available on both the Apple Store and Google Play. Follow seattlecentral and/or studentlife_scc on Instagram, Seattle Central College on Facebook, and InfoCollegian on Twitter.
